PITA BREAD Simple Recipe│INSTANT POT Dough

Pita bread is very easy to make – requiring only a few ingredients. The taste is so much better than anything you can buy at the store! We are going to be using our instant pot to proof the dough. If you don’t have an instant pot – you can still make this recipe, and we will go over both methods. If you have any leftover pita bread – it freezes beautifully! INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Warm Water (around 110F)
1 Packet Yeast (7 gm)
1 tablespoon Sugar
¼ cup Powdered Milk
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
1 teaspoon Salt
3 cups + 2 tablespoons All Purpose Flour
Olive Oil for Brushing the Pan and Greasing Bowl
Flour for Dusting Work Surface

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Combine yeast, water, sugar and 1/4 cup flour in a large mixing bowl and stir well. Set aside for 10 minutes to bloom the yeast. Add remaining ingredients (reserve 1/2 cup of flour). Stir with a spatuta to combine. Using a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, knead the dough, adding reserved flour as necessary for consistency. Knead for 6-10 minutes, scraping down the sides as necessary. Grease the INSTANT POT liner (if using) with olive oil. Place dough in the bowl and roll in oil. Place glass lid or plate on top of the pot and set to YOGURT setting (107F) for 30 minutes. If not proofing in the INSTANT POT, grease a large bowl with olive oil and add the dough. Cover with plastic wrap and a towel and place in a non-drafty area for 1-3 hours.
2. Divide dough into 8 equal portions and roll each piece into a ball. Cover with a kitchen towel. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat until very hot. Brush the pan with olive oil. Roll one dough ball into a circle around 6 inches in diameter, flouring work surface as necessary. Place the circular dough into the hot pan and cook on one side for 1-2 minutes. Flip over and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden. Place on a kitchen towel and cover to keep warm. Continue rolling out each dough ball and brushing the pan with more oil until all dough is cooked. Enjoy!

[Music] Would you follow me would you let it be Just finally tonight this fine father Hey guys welcome back to my channel if This is the first time you here my name Is Terra today we are making pita bread This recipe is so easy and so delicious And you guys are going to absolutely Love it before we get started if you Have not already I would love for you to Be a part of this community you do that By hitting the red subscribe button That's right below this video next week We are making euros you do not want to Miss this recipe be sure to click the Bell icon that way you're notified each Time I post a new video if you guys are Ready to make this super delicious pita Bread smash that like button and let's Jump right into the video we are gonna Start by blooming our yeast very Important for a yeast oh so I'm adding Some warm water to my mixing bowl along With my active dry yeast some cane sugar And a little bit of flour I'm using All-purpose flour and I'm just gonna Whisk this together and set it aside for About 10 minutes then we're gonna add Some milk powder I love using this Because it's shelf stable and it really Adds a smoothness to the dough some pink Salt some olive oil then we're going to Add some more all-purpose flour mix it Together

So I'm going to add another cup of All-purpose flour and I started out with My whisk and quickly realized a spatula Would be much easier so I switched to a Spatula and at this point we are ready To grab our stand mixer you could of Course mix this by hand but it's so much Easier to use a stand mixer so I've set It to about number two setting and I'm Adding a little bit of flour a couple of Tablespoons at a time see how it starts To get really silky I've turned up the Speed and when it starts to hug your Dough hook it's done I'm gonna proof my Dough inside of my instant pot because It's so fast and easy if you don't have An instant pot all you need to do is Take a large mixing bowl put a little Bit of oil inside of it place your dough Inside of there make sure you roll it Around so the entire surface of the Dough is covered that way you don't get Any hard pieces as it rises cover it With some plastic wrap and a towel and Place it in a non drafty area I like to Use my microwave that's over the stove For this of course I don't turn the Microwave on but if you don't have a Microwave there you can place it in the Oven or in a corner somewhere in your House that's the warmest spot and it Will rise beautifully it's gonna take About 1 to 3 hours until it doubles in Size if you're proofing your dough in an

Instant pot and make sure you add the Olive oil to the liner of the pot and Put the dough in and rub it around so All sides are coated I'm using a glass Lid if you don't have this you could Also use a plate set it to the yogurt Setting for 30 minutes then we're gonna Remove the lid grab our perfectly Proofed dough I'm kind of just smashing It down just a little bit to knock all The air out I'm going to place it on a Lightly floured surface And I'm gonna just need this just for a Couple of minutes to get it a little bit Smoother cut it into four and then cut Each of those in half so you have eight Pieces of dome I'm kind of folding them into balls and Then I'm gonna grab my rolling pin I Find it works best to roll out the dough As I go and then keep the rest of the Dough balls covered with a cloth that Way they don't dry out it's really Helpful to roll in one direction and Then turn the dough and roll in the Other this will help to form a better Circle of course it does not have to be Perfect then we're gonna grab our Skillet add a little olive oil I highly Recommend using a cast iron pan I have Tried this recipe using a nonstick and While you will still get you know pita Bread you're not gonna have the best Results it's not gonna heat the dough

Evenly and you will have a lot more Trouble forming that pocket in the dough For your pitas to rise up if you're not Using a cast iron pan if you don't have A cast iron pan and you're looking for a Very inexpensive but great one I will Link the one I'm using here in the Description box below if you'd like to Check that out once the pan is very hot We're gonna grab our rolled out dough And place it right inside the pan I've Found that flipping the dough several Times as you're cooking it provides the Best results so what I do is after I Apply some oil to the pan I place the Dough inside wait about 20 to 30 seconds You should see some of the bubbles start To rise up in the dough flip it over Wait another 20 to 30 seconds flip it Over and one more time Flip it over at this point your dough Should puff up and form that perfect Pita pocket if you're having trouble Forming that pocket don't worry it will Still taste delicious and actually I Prefer to fold my dough over rather than Slice it and stuff it but you can do it Any which way that you prefer we're Going to repeat this process by adding a Little bit of olive oil adding the dough Flipping it to several times And I like to place it inside of a Kitchen towel once I remove it to keep It warm you guys are going to absolutely

Love this recipe I hope you enjoyed Today's video and that you have a chance To try it I'm gonna leave a playlist of More delicious recipes on the screen Over here if you'd like to check that Out thanks so much for watching and I Will see you in the next video bye guys [Music]
